Almora (Hindi: अल्मोड़ा, Almoṛā) ist eine Stadt im südöstlichen Teil des indischen Bundesstaates Uttarakhand.

Sie ist Verwaltungssitz des gleichnamigen Distrikts. Die Stadt liegt im Vorderen Himalaya auf 1633 m Höhe über dem Meeresspiegel. Der Fluss Kosi verläuft westlich an Almora vorbei.

Beim Zensus 2011 betrug die Einwohnerzahl 34.122.cite-ref-census2011-2-0[2] Die Stadt hat den Status einer Nagar Palika Parishad.

Gegründet wurde Almora 1560 von der Chand-Dynastie. Almora ist eine wichtige Marktstadt in der Region Kumaon und ein bedeutsamer Verkehrsknotenpunkt.

Klima

Das Klima in Almora ist warm-gemäßigt. In den Sommermonaten Juli und August, während der Monsunzeit, fallen die meisten Niederschläge. Der durchschnittliche Jahresniederschlag beträgt 1575 mm. Die Jahresmitteltemperatur liegt bei 14,4 °C.
